"The Church in the Park"
St John's is a beautiful heritage church, built in 1851 when Heidelberg was a small village some distance from Melbourne. It contains many fine stained glass windows, and historic gated pews. There are two halls and tennis courts on site, looking down to Salt Creek, Heidelberg and Warringal Parks, and the Yarra Trail. Its beauty and park setting makes it popular for weddings, but it also has an active regular congregation and a number of active supporting and social groups. It is 1 km from Heidelberg railway station, close to the 291, 513 and 546 bus routes, and has adequate on-site car parking.
