Beekeepers at St John's Heidelberg
The Beekeepers Club is one of the largest recreational beekeeping clubs in Victoria, with members from around Melbourne and surrounding areas. In 2017 we established a club apiary at St John's Heidelberg for training new and intermediate beekeepers. It is a very valuable training resource. The apiary and gardening club at the site are a perfect combination - the garden provides forage for the bees while the bees pollenate the plants. It has been said that bees pollinate about a third of our crops; bees improve both the quality and variety of fruit and vegetables.
